Georgia Primary News

Yesterday was Georgia primary day. I took KJita, to show her what voting was. She even got a Georgia "I voted" sticker from the lady at the booth. She then took mine, also. Since she wore two "I voted" stickers yesterday, I assumed everyone thought she voted Democrat twice. I taught her to say "I voted libertarian."

Anyway, the good news:

The Fair Tax was on the ballot in three Georgia counties yesterday. The results:

Gwinnett County:
Total Votes: 35,755
Yes - 31,068. 86.9%
No - 4,687 13.1%

Cobb County:
Total votes: 39,458
Yes - 33,598. 85.15%
No - 5,860. 14.85%

Fayette County:
Total votes: 11,517
Yes - 9,828. 85.33%
No - 1,689. 14.67%

Big win for the Fair Tax. Now, if we could only get the politicians to take notice.

Also, great news for the people of east Gwinnett and DeKalb County. Cynthia Jihad McKinney was forced into a run off election. Hank Johnson, a former two term commissioner of DeKalb County, took 47% to Cynthia's 48% of the vote. That means, in three weeks, even fewer people will vote to decide who wins the Democratic Primary for Georgia's forth district (and whoever wins the primary will win the election).

Ms. Sheehan was present at Cynthia's expected celebration party last night. Once again, she leaves disappointed.

Am I to understand that the Libertarian party has primaries?

Well, no. But conditioning is important.

Yeah, the LP is happy enough to get *one* person to qualify for the ballot, I don't think they'd know what to do if there were more than one to choose from in a race!

I was a little disappointed. I wanted to send a message to my incumbent Congressman (possibly even unseat him), but the challenger only picked up 17% of the vote over here in Cobb. So I'm stuck with the faithful Republican Party vote, who voted for the flag-burning amendment, the transportation bill, and most recently, voted to make transactions facilitating internet poker illegal.

C'mon Brad. They are only trying to protect the integrity of the sport. Poker is a face to face, quick draw (with your gun) game. Not some impersonal internet game.

How could McKinney get 48% of the vote? This means that just under half of the 4th District are completely ignorant or...completely ignorant.

Now now spd. Ignorant means they aren't informed about Cynthia. There are many informed voters that voted for her. That would mean they aren't ignorant.

They are stupid.

Stupid indicates the subject suffers from a biological limitation offering the host little hope for recovery.
Ignorant, on the other hand, suggests that there is a stubborn reluctance on the part of the host to open its eyes and embrace its surroundings. This is referred to in clinical terms as "willful imbecilety," and in common parlance as "way stupid." Hence the confusion.

I hope this clears things up.

Where is Dr. Stuhl?
I don't live in McKinney's district, but have gone to the Dekalb Market many times. Those people looked downright mean and well, mean. Now that there is a chance she will be Booted Out Of Office, I think that Dekalb Co. will be a happier place.

But then, I live soutwest of Atlanta, so
well, there you have it.

I hate it when I leave letters out of words...it looks so illiterate.
