Media in the Media -- Props

I have been in court most of the day, so I will steal from my fellow bloggers.

First, Rightwingsparkle notes that the ACLU asked a Judge to prevent a newspaper from naming a litigant in a pending 10 Commandments case.

Think that one over now. The ACLU? Seeking a prior restraint order to prevent a paper from reporting facts? Isn't that, oh, I don't know, anti-free speech of the ACLU?

The litigant, an atheist living in Nebraska, claims, without any evidence cited in the article, that he is concerned for his safety. Whatever. I think he is just trying to make it sound like it is OK to fear the Christians that want the 10 Commandments display at issue to be left alone. He cared enough to file the lawsuit over a display. He should care enough to be a martyr. Oh, yeah. That isn't worth much to an atheist.

A related issue has Cassandra giving it to the LameStream Media for getting what it asked for: a hard nosed investigation into the Plame game.

I know what you are thinking. No, that isn't Cassandra in that outfit, and her site hasn't gone "adult." PG-13? Maybe.

Meanwhile, Pile On teaches us what it takes to be a good journalist. Well, not a real journalist. Just a blogger. To sum up: Effort. Thoughtful. Everyday. Low impact. Beer helps.

Finally, Heigh Ho's spd rdr tells us about a 9/11 Memorial we can support. A bronze sculpture will be a lifelike re-creation of the stump and roots of a sycamore tree in the churchyard of St. Paul's Chapel. The tree was broken by the blast from the collapsing towers and helped to shield the church from damage It will be the first permenant tribute near ground zero.

spd rdr's post was thoughtful and low impact. It probably took effort. We can only see what the future holds for the everyday part.

Low Impact is another term for "billing like mad."
